Experiences from our cohorts

SC

Somchai C.

Chiang Mai · March 2026

"I came into the Debt Clarity workshop feeling quite embarrassed about my situation. By the end of the second evening, I had a clear written plan and felt, for the first time in a while, like I was in control of things rather than the other way around. The facilitator was patient and never made anyone feel judged."

Nattaya W.

Chiang Mai · February 2026

"The Mid-Career Savings program gave me a completely different perspective on how to think about money at this stage of life. I had been saving, but not thoughtfully. Now I have a clear structure and actually understand why each piece matters. The quarterly check-ins have been a nice extra."

Prasert K.

Lampang · March 2026

"The tax program was genuinely eye-opening. I have been filing my own taxes for fifteen years and had no idea I was missing several deductions. Prayuth explains things in a way that makes complex rules feel manageable. The tax calendar I built in session five is something I use every month."

Apinya S.

Chiang Rai · January 2026

"I drove from Chiang Rai for both debt workshop evenings and would do it again without hesitation. The small group made it feel safe enough to actually be honest about my situation, which is something I would not have expected from a financial course. I left feeling lighter."

Wirote T.

Chiang Mai · February 2026

"The templates from the savings workshop are still on my desk. I pull out the emergency fund tracker most months. The program was practical in a way that most financial advice I have read simply is not — there were no vague suggestions, just clear frameworks I could actually apply."

Mae Hong Son · March 2026

"I am self-employed and the tax program finally made sense of something I had been finding intimidating for years. For the first time I understand which expenses I can deduct and why. The bilingual delivery was helpful — some concepts in Thai tax law are easier to grasp in Thai."

Case Studies

Before and after the workshop

A closer look at how three participants' situations changed after attending Boon Wattana programs.

Challenge

A 48-year-old teacher from Chiang Mai with obligations across three different sources — a personal loan, two credit cards, and a family borrowing. She had been making minimum payments for two years and felt no clarity about which to address first or how long it would take.

Solution

After the Debt Clarity Workshop, she mapped all obligations in one place for the first time. Using the prioritisation framework, she identified that addressing the highest-interest card first would save her the most over time. She also practised a script for a restructuring conversation.

Outcome

Within four months of the workshop, she had successfully restructured one debt and was ahead of her projected repayment timeline. She returned for the Mid-Career Savings program six months later.

"The template I made on the second evening is still on my fridge."

Challenge

A 52-year-old business owner from Lampang, self-employed for eighteen years, had never properly organised his personal finances separate from his business. He was aware he owed tax but uncertain how much, and had no system for mid-year planning.

Solution

The Tax-Aware Financial Organisation program clarified the distinction between business and personal income, the relevant deduction categories for self-employed adults, and how to calculate and set aside quarterly tax estimates reliably.

Outcome

He filed the following year's personal tax with complete confidence for the first time and identified deductions he had been missing for several years. His personalised tax calendar is now part of his monthly routine.

"I wish I had done this ten years ago."

Challenge

A couple in their mid-40s from Chiang Mai — one salaried, one part-time freelance — had no meaningful emergency savings and two children approaching university age. They had intended to save for years but had no clear framework or prioritisation system.

Solution

Both attended the Mid-Career Savings Strategy program in the same cohort. The goal-setting framework gave them a shared language for financial decisions. They built separate emergency and education fund targets with realistic monthly contribution amounts.

Outcome

Eight months later, they had built a three-month emergency reserve and opened a dedicated education fund. The quarterly check-in session kept them on track and helped them adjust when the husband's freelance income varied.

"Finally, we talk about money without it becoming an argument."
